Super Disk Kit - Roy Armstrong ItalsportI have recently had the super disk kit made by Roy of Italsport fitted. This was an task accomplished easily by Roy as he has manufactured the necessary disk rotor centre to fit a cast iron Ducati rotor. The Brembo 4 piston calliper is also supplied by Roy to suit the standard master cylinder. There are a few things to watch out for as the clearance to the spokes is quite small. I am sure that Roy will assist you when you order your SuperDisk Kit from him. I have taken a few shots to show you the results on my 900ie.
Comments: It is early days yet as I write this article but initial results are much more feel in the brake lever, the action is much more progressive, much better in the wet as the original disk tended to suffer badly from rain, until the disk had cleared the water off it's surface. This is not the case on the new setup as the brakes were on immediately and very predictable but as yet I have not yet tested it for maximum braking effect, as the road and weather conditions have not been suitable. I will give more feedback when I can. I am very pleased with the results and the professional level of the materials and fitment that Italsport has given me and I have no hesitation in recommending their expertise. Having recently spent a day out with the boys from the Big Trail Bike Club on the 'Southern Softies spring warm up' the superdisk performed very well. The disk has a slight dead feel when cold but is very progressive. As it warms up the feel is a lot more normal and of course as you punish it it does not fade away like the original equipment. I am very pleased and I look forward to many years of happy braking. Roy has tested this setup extensively himself and as a racer he knows what will work and what not.
